So the office relocation is looming on the horizon. There’s lots going on and lots to think about. Office furniture is probably not your main focus, but it’s worth bearing in mind, however, it’s one of the first things employees notice when they move.
So what’s the best way to deal with this conundrum? We reckon it’s to involve them! And here are some ideas on how…
Let that person act as the main point of contact regarding all-things-office-furniture during the office relocation. Get them planning, liaising, consulting… and then planning some more.
Take this opportunity to get everyone emptying those filing cabinets of obsolete documents. Send round the bin bags for all those old flapjacks still lurking in office desk drawers. Give each member of staff a box for their personal items.
Obviously this has the practical benefit of enabling packing and then unpacking to be much more efficient etc. And it also helps you to check that the new office furniture you order, and those pieces you take with you… fit! But, there’s more to it than that. For it also enables employees to envision how things will be after the office relocation has taken place. There may be a bit of bickering at this stage, but it’s best to get that sorted now, rather than have to tackle it later.
Make sure your IT support has a clear idea of what needs to change. The new office will possibly have a new cabling set up. The workstation layout that you’re planning will have all sorts of different IT requirements. Liaise with them now, so they can prepare for the office relocation transition.
If ever there was a time to rethink how you store paperwork, order paperwork, use paperwork, and archive paperwork… this is it. Think about office shelving, cabinets, pedestals, and cupboards. Work out how much you think you need… and then add some more. You’ll never regret being able to store the office fans during the winter, but you’ll rue your decision to save a bit of cash when the files start stacking up in the corner.
We’ve helped many a business through an office move. We have an experienced and well-trained team who can clear your office, remove furniture, dispose of unwanted items, and recycle all that can be recycled (including WEEE recycling). We can then arrange for the premises to be cleaned. Alongside that, though, we can also help you find, order, have delivered, and then install new office furniture if required. So you can be left to concentrate on ensuring the day-to-day running of your business remains smooth and consistent.
If you’d like to discuss your office relocation in more detail, please do give us a call. We’d be delighted to be a part of this new stage in your business!
