Hooray! Easter is nearly upon us! And whether you celebrate it for its religious significance, its pagan roots, or simply because everyone else is enjoying a long bank holiday break, it doesn’t matter. Because what it does mean is… CHOCOLATE EGGS! Oh, and chicks, bunnies, baskets and bonnets of course…
But what has any of that got to do with office furniture?
Well, we accept that we can come over as a bit enthusiastic about what we do at times. And yes, office furniture does tend to be top of our list of considerations - might even be the first words off our lips every morning. But even we reckon it would be a tad too tenuous to write about the joys of egg hunts amongst the filing cabinets. However, that doesn’t stop us loving what we do, whilst loving chocolate at the same time. Are we balmy? Probably, but… it would appear we share a few drops of balminess with a fabulous sculptor in Minsk.
Furniture made out of chocolate?!
You see, in our free time we can be quite normal and do what many folk do, which is browse the internet for news and views on furniture. And in one of those browsing sessions recently, we just happened to discover Elena Kliment, a sculptor based in Minsk. Now it’s true that sculptured works of art wouldn’t always catch our office furniture eye, but a display using over 600kg of Belgian chocolate did – surprise surprise! Yes, Elena Kliment sculpted a sitting room in which every single piece of furniture was edible.
Well, that can’t go without a mention at this time of year, can it?
And these weren’t dolls house sized pieces either. The room was twenty square metres! It took two months to prepare; two weeks to sculpt; and, if we had had anything to do with it, just two hours to eat!
Of course we’re now wondering if, having cut her teeth on a domestic display, Elena might just turn her hand to a full office furniture suite next.
We reckon a Managing Director’s office would work brilliantly in chocolate. All that glorious dark leather executive seating and those plush tub style chairs, not to mention the all-important shiny executive desk and coffee table… How perfect would that be built in chocolate? How long would it last…? What food for thought!
So… who knows any chocolatiers in Northamptonshire! And if not Northants, how about Bedfordshire or Buckinghamshire? There must be one that might think about giving it a go. Let us know.
And in the meantime, if you’d like to find out more about the office furniture solutions we currently offer – whether they’re built in MFC, teak or chocolate – get in touch!
